Community Voice

At the Milton Food Hub & Community Garden, we believe that the heart of our community lies in the voices of the people who live here. Every decision we make is informed by the needs, ideas, and aspirations of local residents. The redevelopment of the Milton Church Building is not just about creating a new physical space; it’s about building a stronger, more connected community that reflects the collective values and needs of the people it serves.

Why Your Voice Matters

We know that community involvement is key to the success of this project. That’s why we’ve worked hard to engage as many residents, groups, and stakeholders as possible throughout the planning process. Whether it’s through surveys, consultations, or informal conversations, your input helps shape the future of the Milton Food Hub and ensures that it truly meets the needs of everyone in the area.

What We’ve Heard

Through our ongoing consultations, we’ve gathered valuable feedback from the local community, and we’re excited to share the key themes that have emerged:

  • A Need for More Activities and Services: Many residents have expressed a desire for more community events, fitness classes, and educational opportunities. There’s strong support for activities that bring people together—particularly for young people, families, and older adults.
  • Improved Accessibility: A common theme has been the need for better access to the Hub, especially for people with disabilities. We’re committed to ensuring that the new building is fully accessible, with ramps, lifts, and other features that ensure everyone can participate in what we offer.
  • A Safe, Welcoming Space: The Hub is already seen as a place where people feel welcomed and supported. Residents have highlighted the importance of maintaining this welcoming atmosphere, and our design will reflect this with a bright, open, and inviting space where people of all ages and backgrounds can come together.
  • A Desire for Sustainability: There’s a strong call for the Hub to be eco-friendly and sustainable, with many residents expressing an interest in seeing energy-efficient features, sustainable food practices, and green initiatives incorporated into the new design.

Continuing the Conversation

As we move forward with the building project, we’re committed to keeping the conversation going and ensuring that everyone’s voice is heard. We’ll continue to host community consultations and share updates through social media, newsletters, and local events. This is a community-led project, and we want to make sure that everyone has the chance to contribute to its success..
